SPECIAL OFFER—Seven unlabeled dahlia roots $1.50. These are varieties that became mixed in handling and some that I did not have insufficient quantities to list by name. Mostly large kinds—some very finest.

A FEW POINTERS ON DAHLIA CULTURE

Plant tubers 4 to 6 inches deep and about three feet apart in well worked soil. I usually plamt from May 20th to June 10th. Do not plant near buildings or trees— they do best in full sun. Keep top soil stirred, allow no crust to form and keep free of grass and weeds. Do not water umless very dry—then soak thoroughly once a week—a slight sprinkling will do more harm than good. As the buds develop in groups of three—remove the two side buds leaving only the middle or terminal bud and you will have large flowers with longer stems,

BUTTON MUMS

I have three kinds of good bronze buttons—names lost, each 20c. All other buttons 25 cents each.

IRENE (white), MINONG (white), JEWEL (orchid), JEWELRY (lavender), JUDITH ANDERSON (yellow), SEPTEMBER BRONZE (orange-bronze).

If anyone who bought chrysanthemums from me in 1949 received plants that were not true to name—let me know and I will replace them as I found some of mine were labeled wrong when they bloomed last fall.

My Chrysanthemum plants are seldom large enough to start shipping before the first of May and of course the earliest orders are filled first.

If you order dahlias, glads or any other roots in with your order for mums these will be held until the mum plants are ready (to save postage and packing) unless both the mum and root order amounts to $1.00 or more each.
